Justin Page C.M.

Justin Page C.M. (Order of Canada) – is an inveterate inventor/creator. After having encounters with crime and prison, he became a leading ‘job finder’ for the HEL P program (ex-offenders finding jobs for ex-offenders – a project of Frontier College.) On that journey – his lack of literacy skills was flipped into a remarkable tutoring relationship with Marsha Forest. Justin was hooked on literacy for ever more. He then co-created Beat the Street , which mobilized the talents of thousands of people on the street – to help each other. For that work, he was awarded the Order of Canada. He had further careers as a fund raiser, but continued his engagement with literacy. In time, he created remarkably new approaches to literacy – the U-CAN Dictionaries – that begin at the beginning – with one, then two, then three letter words – and thus build success almost instantly. His creative literacy journey has continued – discovering the enormous liberating power of using a computer to take your voice to text – and then colour coding your ‘voice journaling’. As this approach emerges, it is breaking through the loneliness of seniors, literacy and the epidemic of suicide. So the latest prototype in his creative journey is ‘suicde prevention.’ And the journey continues.
