Description
Hints for Graphic Facilitators: This book is an introduction to Graphic Facilitation. It is a teaser – a way to get started.
First Things First: Graphic Facilitation is NOT about art; it is about Communication. This means that it is a translation, not a transcription, of a conversation into imagery – not just words. “Meeting Minutes” are about words. This is not that. You are creating a Visual Language representation. The task of a graphic facilitator is to create a visual portrait of the event – using ‘images’ rather than words. This does NOT mean one cannot use words. It means that the central ideas are captured in the images that are always embedded underneath the words.
Why Imagery? We don’t think and dream in words. Our nightmares are not bound by words. Language is at best a very limited representation of the full color, surround sound images in our minds. Edited minutes are already a 3rd or 4th generation copy of a spoken thought. Even under the best circumstances, most of the original content has been lost .
