Description
This book is meant to help families understand the philosophy of Circles and outline a practical process that can be used in building and maintaining them. It is built on the core values of Hope, Belonging and Purpose
It provides realistic assistance about who to invite, samples of invitations, goals, activities, even menus to help families get started. There will be tested tips on how to create environments of trust and safety, as well as how to activate the circle to assist in times of crisis.
The gift of a Circle of Support is truly priceless. It brings people together around a vulnerable person to celebrate life with that person and to hear and support her wishes, needs and dreams. It provides a network of friends to help prepare the day when the person will leave their family home or lose a parent. It provides the security to parents that their adult child will not be alone and friendless. It provides information and education for the circle to protect and enforce the rights of the person at the heart of the circle. It maintains friendships, does collaborative problem solving, decision making and planning. Few families will have the money or know how to even find someone who can create a circle for their son or daughter; this guidebook will help them build that circle themselves and join with other circles to share information and support.
