MAPS - step by step - John O'Brien facilitating Shafik Asante's Map. How to make families partners in planning. Holistic, creative, colorful futures planning for people, families, organizations. + Judith Snow on Dreaming. (45 min)

Created by Jack Pearpoint and Marsha Forest; Produced by Jeff Dobbin, Parashoot Productions; Facilitated by John O'Brien

Shafik Asante, a well known human rights activist from Philadelphia, courageously opens his heart and his life in this unique video which is a high caliber training tape. The tape takes the viewer through each step of the MAPS process and discusses the steps in detail as designed by the authors. An 8 minute segment by Judith Snow at the end of the video is a gem describing "dreaming", which is the heart of the process.

MAPS is an 8 step tool that collects information about a person, a family, or an organization, then designs a plan of action based on the that information. The questions are:
  • What is a MAP?
  • What is the person's story or history?
  • What are the person's dreams?
  • What are the person's nightmare's.
  • Who is this person?
  • What is the person good at (their gifts and talents)?
  • What do we need to do to get to the dream and avoid the nightmare? and finally
  • What is our plan of Action?
A must see for anyone interested in MAPS. An excellent training video for people engaged in or being introduced to the MAPS process.
